Sikeston, MO – A malnourished, neglected, and injured dog is about to embark on his new life after being found discarded in a ditch in Sikeston, Missouri. On May 9, Stray Rescue of St. Louis posted images of the “throw-away” dog, writing:
His huge, gaping wounds are full of maggots and infection.
Adding a promise of better days ahead.
His journey to a new life is underway.
It is impossible to know this dog’s story. Did he escape from a bad situation? Was he cruelly discarded by an uncaring owner? Did he get lost…doing his best to survive on his own?
Regardless of what his past entailed, one thing is now known…he will not be subjected to pain, loneliness, or hunger, again. Better days are ahead.

Yeah, that was weird..
I think they put him in the back of the truck when the guy first found him. Further down they show him on a blanket inside the truck.
He was pulled out of the ditch and put in the back of the truck and brought to the rescue.
This sweet boy has been named Charlie Sikes. He made it through the night, and is receiving lots of tender loving care at Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
Thank you for saving this precious innocent fur baby 😇. Praise The Lord that baby will have a second chance at unconditional love and a fur ever wonderful home 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. But PLEASE tell me you will find the POS that abused this innocent baby?

Thank you for saving this precious pup. He deserves to be loved and cared for and treated with kindness.
While animal cruelty is still rife around the world how can we ever expect peace on earth. Until animal abuse is punishable to the max in every country and the courts accept this and give out punishments to fit the crimes then we won’t see change . Animals must be treated as our equals in law because they are living breathing sentient beings and suffer as we do.
You couldn’t have said it any better as I look at his picture with tears in my eyes. It is a must that there should be punishment for mistreating any animal because they are our family and they cannot speak for themselves
This is a very lucky dog and he couldn’t be with a better group of dedicated dog people! He will get the very best of care and top notch vetting with Stray Rescue of ST Louis…..they have brought many dogs back from the dead! Stray Rescue is very good about keeping everyone up to date on their recovery while there
