Gorgeous, Young Shepherd Slated to Die in Two Days

Update 4/15/2025: The adoption link for Foxy is still active. Please continue to save. The more visibility she gets, the better her odds are of being rescued. Thank you!

Los Angeles County, CA – A gorgeous, two-year-old German shepherd was surrendered by her family for being “overly loving” and now she is slated to be killed in two days (4/12/2025). The shepherd, Foxy, is at the Carson Animal Care facility and staff is trying to find somewhere for her to go, before she is euthanized for “behavior.”

Surrender notes indicate this young shepherd was too affectionate and lacked training.

Her prior owner’s failures have resulted in a rescue only designation for this dog, and a death sentence.

Behavior notes on 3/26/25 at the facility are as follows:

On approach she was laying down and eagerly stood up to greet me. Loose tail and wiggly body. Able to leash without incident. Moderate pull and turning to interact with me. Brought her to the small yard and she was seeking engagement. Once I knelt down I was able to pet/touch and handle without incident. She can be a little mouthy and jumpy, slightly anxious behavior. Releashed and returned to kennel without issue. Due to mouthy/jumpy behavior with handlers, Adults Rec with KHOA from previous owner home

Anyone familiar with the German shepherd breed will recognize Foxy’s behavior as typical. She is young, energetic, and untrained – thanks to the family who owned and then surrendered her. She needs structure, training, and love – she needs to be saved before she is lost forever, through no fault of her own.

  1. Not slaughtering the dog, who has done nothing wrong, but the heartless owners without thesenes and feelings.
Why are the animals always the child of the bill!
And what insensitive veterinarian kills healthy animals!
    What a shitty world!!!

  2. I ONLY RECEIVED THIS EMAIL TODAY, SUNDAY 13TH, IN THE UK, SO I ALL OTHERS ARE TOO LATE TO SAVE THIS BEAUTIUL INNOCENT DOG! What a pathetic charade by the previous cruel owners!

  3. Why are we seeing this on the day the poor pup is supposed to be euthanized. You can’t do this and send out this heartbreaking news to people and provide no time to get a rescue.

  4. The prior owners never should have had a dog. Innocent pup crossed paths with the wrong people and deserved better.

Someone please adopt this loving dog ‘Foxy” before he is murdered by uncaring Carson Animal Care who does not care at all!!! They should change their name. Also whoever left Foxy there should be ashamed abandoning such a beautiful dog just because he is too friendly. Really???

Please CA stop the killing of a good pup that deserves a loving home!. Stop this “shelter” from killing this pup. They need a loving forever home not the needle of death. THANKS

Why that stupid family should be prosecuted for allowing this beautiful Shepard dog let go and there are no supervisions as to what kind of families can be interviewed for this gorgeous dog? They also have no standards at all!!!! The next owner must be special with references!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do they not ask for references?!!!! He must go to someone special not sloppy or vindictive!!!! Show the record of the next owner show proof that he or she can be a reliable humane owner?!! Does anyone care?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This beauty must go to a family of love who have had well trained dogs!!!! There is no such thing as an over loving dog either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. This can’t be true. It’s just so heartbreaking and unfair! Why would they give her only TWO DAYS to be rescued? That’s insane! What kind of “shelter” is Carson City Animal Control that it rushes to kill such a precious animal without even giving her a chance to be saved? I’ve never seen a hold time so short! THIS IS SO WRONG!

And tell me, why do we always see these urgent stories THE day that the poor dog is supposed to be killed??? I just received this email today, SATURDAY, April 12, at 1:27 PM Eastern Time from National Animal News. The date of the information above written by Penny Eims is April 10, 2025, and this beautiful dog is supposed to be killed TODAY, the 12th!

I hope and pray that Foxy was saved because she did not deserve to die for being “overly loving.” What she did deserve is a patient, loving owner who would give her the best life and be there for her till her final breath – many years from now. That’s what all dogs deserve. She’s just a baby. I would be that owner if I didn’t live so far away (SC) and if I knew she would get along with my other dog. What is wrong with this world? I can’t even understand anymore why so many innocent souls are being killed for absolutely no reason – especially in California and Texas. It’s sickening!

  11. So because of the laziness or stupidity of the owners this poor dog us to be euthanized. That’s so wicked. I sincerely hope someone is able to offer this beautiful dog and loving and understanding lifelong home. I wish she were here in the UK. She is simply an untrained typical GSD. 💝💔

  12. That stupid STUPID family that surrendered this beautiful NORMAL young dog should NEVER be allowed to have pets – there should be a list of people like them. (They probably shouldn’t have kids either because they are no better with them!)
And that dog was 80% outside?????????????
    SHAME on that horrible family.

  13. Seriously you are gonna kill a beautiful dog because of the stupidity and laziness of a so called family that would not take the time to work with him/her. If you can’t train and love an animal DON’T get one and as for this idiot family they don’t deserve ever to own another. This just pisses me off.

  14. Any “shelter” that kills an animal should be immediately shut down, defunded and the “workers” never allowed to work with animals again!!
