Denver, Colorado – A Denver family is mourning the loss of their senior dog, Daisy, who died after being left in a parked car by a trusted dog walker. As reported by CBS News, Ted Gualtier, owner of Happy Tail Happy Dog, LLC, is facing a charge of animal cruelty for the August 26 incident which claimed the 12-and-a-half-year-old dachshund’s life.

“Denver Animal Protection issued a citation to the owner of Happy Tails Happy Dog, [LLC] for animal cruelty after a dog died after being left in his vehicle on 8/26. This is a criminal summons and will be handled in Denver County Court.”
Gualtier apparently forgot Daisy in his vehicle for approximately two hours on the day she died – a day when the temperature climbed to the low 90s. Donna Antonoff, the sister of Daisy’s owner, tells CBS, “Inexcusable. He made a terrible, terrible mistake.”
The dog daycare/dog walking business remains open and Gualtier has said he is “conducting a full review” of the operation to prevent it from happening again.
Rest easy Daisy.
