Buchanan Dam, Texas – A young dog is “extremely lucky” to be alive after surviving being shot eight times, with wounds in his nose, neck, back, and one leg. The dog, dubbed Messiah, was taken under the wing of the Hill Country Humane Society after being found by a good Samaritan.
The rescue group’s initial post offered little information about the dog:
This sweet boy was just brought in by ACOs after he was shot in the face. He is in our care and we are rushing him to the vet. We don’t know exactly where the bullet is or what surgeries he will need. If you would like to donate towards his funds please call it Messiah medical. He needs us.
After Messiah was examined at the veterinary hospital, more information was disclosed about his injuries:
Messiah is staying another night at the vet. The X-rays show he has multiple bullets and/or bullet fragments in his cheek and upper back, without hitting any major arteries, spinal cord, nasal cavities, or his brain. The vet said he was EXTREMELY lucky. One also went through his back leg, miraculously missing the bone…
He is still is at risk, but at this point he is stable and pain free. We are so thankful for everyone’s support in his journey to recovery.
This week, positive news was released from the rescue group. A foster some was secured for Messiah to recuperate!
According to Yahoo News, a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for hurting this dog. A social media post reads:
“If you know of the person(s) responsible, please call our anonymous tip line at 1-855-SOS-BEAR anytime, day or night. Be an anonymous hero and help us bring justice for Sweet Messiah! Thank you for your help in protecting our precious animal friends!”
