Chalfont, Pennsylvania – An adult male snapping turtle has died from injuries allegedly inflicted by children who beat him with a baseball bat. The senior turtle was taken to the Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center in September with severe injuries.
When the turtle was first taken in, the organization said:
A large adult male snapping turtle was admitted earlier this month after rescuers found him being bludgeoned with stones by kids. This caused substantial damage to his carapace (top shell) exposing tissue and muscle. He will now have to spend the winter in our clinic due to his injuries.
This is an old adult male that had likely been alive for decades. 😭 If rescuers had not stepped him, it’s possible he would not be alive right now. It is truly mind boggling and horrific to see young people behaving this way towards an innocent animal who likely was just minding his own business.
On Wednesday, the organization said the turtle had passed away, and noted that the injuries were actually believed to be from a baseball bat:
We have some sad news. The adult male snapping turtle that was admitted after being attacked by children with a baseball bat passed away on Friday. Recently, he had begun to show scarring on the top of his head which, sadly, makes us think that it was not only his shell they were targeting but also his head. 💔
This was an older male that had likely been alive for decades and it is truly heartbreaking to see his life cut short by the cruel and misguided actions of children.
The rehab center is unsure if the parents of the children were notified. They said:
Unfortunately, we still do not know the answer to that, but we hope that the parents were informed and that these children will be educated on the wrongness of their actions in ending this turtle’s life.

Absolutely! A lot of them do it because they are underage and know they won’t be held accountable. This needs to change. They need identified publicly, what they did and who their parents are. This underage excuse needs to stop. If they have the guts to do harm then they have the guts to pay the consequences,
,regardless of an age excuse.

I doubt they were children – more like teenagers. They need to be taught a lesson. Animals being tortured is a crime. They should serve time for this and their parents.
Remove the kids from society and charge the parents for raising assholes. Seriously, if more parents were held accountable for their children’s actions, they would think twice before having them.
Find these little bastards and give them Vigilante treatment. See if they think it funny with broken arms and legs. The punishment to fit the crime is needed here- no messing. These pieces of shit must be taught that animal torture and murder does not pay. They are just going to keep on doing this sort of stuff so need taking out accordingly. No loss to the world at all.
Need to beat the children and the parents. Those kids knew they were doing wrong. So yes, the punishment should fit the crime.

Those kids need to learn the hard way of what it means to be cruel to innocent creatures. Punishment is needed, I don’t care how they are.
Regardless of age STERELIZE them. Put the parents through a basic IQ test if they fail STERELIZE them as well

What is going on with all this animal abuse by young kids or teens. And worst of all, they are kids so nothing much happens to them and they will continue to torture and abuse animals. And if it proceeds to court it should not be plea bargained. These ADA’s are lazy and take the easy way out. They need a trial with a guilty finding and lock up.
