Beaumont, Texas – And elderly dog, 17 years of age, is grappling with fear and confusion after finding herself locked away in an unfamiliar kennel run at the Beaumont Animal Care facility in Texas. The agency explains:
After her owner passed away, Sadie spent the last two years being loved and cared for by her aunt. Sadly, due to circumstances beyond her control, her aunt could no longer care for her. Now, instead of spending her golden years in the comfort of a familiar home, Sadie is trying to make sense of a loud, unfamiliar shelter.
Sadie no longer has her people, or her home. Gone are familiar sights and smells. Gone are the voices that once provided comfort. Now Sadie passes her days trembling in fear.

The shelter writes:
This morning, she was so overwhelmed that staff brought her soft food to her bed because she was too scared to come forward. Senior dogs don’t adjust to shelter life the way younger dogs often can. They grieve. They become confused. They shut down.
Despite everything she’s been through, Sadie is still the sweet, gentle girl she’s always been. She only needs soft food, enjoys quiet companionship, walks nicely on a leash, and rides well in the car.
The shelter writes:
Sadie weighs only 28 pounds and is already spayed. What Sadie needs most isn’t another day in the shelter. She needs a soft bed, a quiet home, and someone willing to show her that she hasn’t been forgotten. She deserves to spend whatever time she has left surrounded by love instead of concrete walls and kennel doors. If you have room in your heart and your home for a senior dog, please come meet Sadie. Giving her a peaceful place to spend her golden years may seem like a small act of kindness, but to Sadie, it would mean everything. ❤️
