Wheeling, Illinois – A family is mourning the loss of their beloved black Labrador retriever, Miller, who died after being left in a crate in a pet resort’s van for hours during hot weather. According to sources, Miller was forgotten in a Waggles Pet Resort van on a day when the temperature outside climbed to nearly 100 degrees.
As reported by CBS Chicago, Miller was left in the pet resort van for seven hours. The dog’s owner, Steve Serota describes Miller as a “big goofy black lab, he was everything you wanted in a dog.”
According to Serota, Miller went to the resort several times per week, but on the day he died, nobody took him out of the van after he was picked up at 9 a.m. Serota tells CBS News about the call he received, “They tell me Miller’s died. And I’m in full shock, and I’m like what happened? How is that possible? And they told me they left him in the van for the whole day.”
This week, CBS News reported that the owner of the pet resort, Ross Niehaus, was charged with cruel treatment of animals. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 25.

Oh hello Ross Niehaus.
We know where you live.
You tortured a dog.
You take care now ya hear?
We gonna have some fun round about Halloween punk.
Lock that POS in a hot car for awhile! Bet he won’t do it again! He should do jail time and never be allowed to be around animals again!! So sad for that dog and his owner.
This is beyond sad. Shut the place down

They have ONE job. Take care of the pets. That’s it. ONE. Not texting or watching t.v. or buffing up your website. ONE job: take care of some pets. Intentional, not intentional… doesn’t matter. YOU ARE FULLY 100% RESPONSIBLE. If this was a hospital or a daycare…???? Nope. No mercy.
I would want to know if this has happened before. It is incredibly sad and my heart goes out to Miller’s family and the daycare. I appreciate that they were honest about what happened. I am pretty sure it was not intentional. This happens with children too. It is a tragedy and more safeguards should be put in place to make sure it never happens again. I would insist that they come up with a plan but unless there have been other issues, I would not recommend closure.
Shut the place down. Someone who is that careless shouldn’t be responsible for other people’s pets. Bless that innocent pup.
Animals are subjected to human stupidity all the time. It’s unfortunate these people aren’t ever really made to face justice.

FRY THE EMPLOYEES TO DEATH!!! RENEE CARIGLIA
They picked him up at 9am (he normally goes there a fee times a week). whoever was driving the van, as well as the owner and all of the employees (forgetting about an animal in your van for 7 hours) means federal felony animal abuse, 7 yrs prison, for all of you. And the business closes. After serving your long prison sentences, never able to have, have access to or work with any non human animals.

This is why you don’t go to organizations that have many employees because they’re just looking for workers. Their heart is not into the work and doesn’t feel like responsibility like the owner would do. Unfortunately, the owner of this place is responsible but it’s his fault for hiring someone who’s such a dip shit because if the dip shit actually cared about animals, he wouldn’t have forgotten the dog. No other excuse exist. The worker just didn’t care enough about animals.
People, keep your animals at home, If you are worried about your house then pick a bedroom and shut the door. Keep you pet home and turn on the air conditoner and ceiling fan during summer and in winter, turn on the heater. If you want your pet to have entertainment while you are gone. Either have more then one pet and turn the TV on for them or use a video with a cute video that will play all day..Stop using dog walker, day care, or even people who come to your home…Don’t trust anyone. Trust yourself to keep them safe…sure it will be more work for you, but with the money you save on loser places like this day care you can buy better food and toys for your pets.
This place needs to be shut down and the person or persons responsible for the death of that innocent dog need to be punished for causing his death. Why wait until it happens again to another innocent animal?
Shut his company down! He has no right to be in charge of animals. This is horrible. That dog died a slow suffer suffering, death! No excuse for his incompetence!
Apply the full extent of the law!!
Is this company being charged with felony cruelty on this poor animals death! Same as leaving a child in the car!
There are so many good people out there who truly do a good job and then you see this. I am so very sad for the owners and their loss of their beloved fur-baby.
How do you just leave a dog in a van all day?! Was he drunk/on drugs?
How horrible! What is wrong with these people? This place needs to close down.
