Laredo, Texas – An investigation has been opened after images of an abandoned dog, with its head covered and legs restrained, began circulating on social media. On August 22, Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino posted images of the dog, writing:
Animal Cruelty Investigation
This disturbing incident involving a dog found abandoned in South Laredo, with its head covered and its feet restrained, is currently under investigation.
And requesting information:
Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our community. If you have any information about this incident or know who may be responsible, please contact the Laredo Police Department’s non-emergency line at 956-795-2800.

Another social media post on the Wero Loco / Laredo Hood News Facebook page provides additional details:
A Dog was found in the Southside of Laredo Tx off of zapata hwy 83 , on Pine st & Bartlett 
Next to the pizza hut With its face completely covered & Tied with a Cord & Left at a Street corner in extreme 100+ degree weather .
The Dog was spotted by people driving by in the area. People stopped took a photo posted it online then removed the clothing off the dogs face & apprently ran off is what im being told.
Anyone with information about the dog or this incident is asked to call the Laredo Police Department at 965-795-2800.

OMG I so agree with you Margo I just despair. I cannot believe how people can be so cruel to innocent animals. If you don’t want a dog any longer for any reason why don’t you just surrender it to a rehoming centre/shelter to be cared for properly and then adopted into a forever loving home.

What sort of a fucking idiot takes a photo first, THEN takes the restraints and head cover off. THEN goes home to post on social media. You have got to be fucking kidding me??? Any normal person with a brain would have raced to the poor dogs aid, comforted him while removing all that crap off him, whilst at the same time use the rope that was around his tummy as a lead to keep him safe. Get him some water and something to eat AND CALL THE POLICE. You fucking morons, this poor dog probably ran off and ended up getting hit by a car OR WORSE STILL gets caught by animal control and ends up back with the sadistic c**ts that did this to him.
