Malheur County, Oregon – The discovery of a decapitated mule deer in Malheur County has prompted an investigation by Oregon State Police’s (OSP) Fish and Wildlife Division. On Monday, the Oregon State Police issued a public plea for help writing:
OSP Asking for Tips in Malheur County Mule Deer Unlawful Take Investigation
The Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help to identify the person(s) responsible for the unlawful shooting and waste of a mule deer buck near the Owyhee Avenue and Twilight Drive area near Nyssa in Malheur County.
Detailing the grim discovery made on Sept. 10:
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, OSP’s Fish and Wildlife Division responded to a report of a deceased mule deer buck that appeared to have been shot and left to waste with only its head removed. Troopers located the buck on private land approximately 100 yards from Twilight Drive in a hay field.
Anyone with information regarding the unlawful take of this mule deer buck is asked to call the Turn in Poachers (TIP) hotline at 1-800-452-7888 or *OSP (*677) from a mobile phone. Please reference case number SP26-297246.

sick… about 2 yrs ago i was coming from work by a notable deer activity area, i assume a deer was hit by a car, but someone cut off its head and all 4 legs…. i called it in to the game warden about removal… anyways, about a week later i seen another in around the same area, another with head and legs gone… people are sooooo sick…. i doubt the ones here was ever investigated… they probably viewed them as hit by cars…. but still….
