New York City, NY – A 15-year-old carriage horse named Lady collapsed and died on her way back to her stable on Tuesday. According to sources, the Standardbred mare had only been working in the city for two months.
Christina Hansen, with the TWU Local 100, tells NBC New York, “Lady was 15 years old. Prime of life. Seemingly nothing wrong with her. Just came to the city in the last two months, less than two months ago. Clean bill of health.”
Adding, “Unfortunately, animals, including humans and horses, sometimes die suddenly and unexpectedly. We insist that a board-certified pathologist at a prestigious university perform a full necropsy to determine the cause of death.”
Animal welfare advocates plan to protest the carriage horse industry on Wednesday in front of the Clinton Stables, where Lady was headed when she collapsed and died.

Worked to death. How much more cruelty is it going to take for this to end. Carriage horses should be banned everywhere
