Shasta County, California – On the morning of September 11, a California man jumped from a moving boat to rescue his dog, who had jumped from the vessel into Lake Shasta. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, “the male reportedly appeared to begin having an unknown emergency and called for help. A flotation device was thrown to the male, who was able to hold onto it, however he slipped under the water and did not resurface. The reporting party was able to safely recover the animal.”
The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Geordan White, of Redding. His body was retrieved from the water and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. His dog is safe.
As reported by People, the victim was a musician and co-founder experimental noise duo Liver Cancer and Company and of the effects and synthesizer company Audible Disease.
The Sheriff’s Office said:
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office extends our condolences to the victim’s loved ones. The Sheriff’s Office also encourages the public to always wear personal flotation devices while on the water.
