Austin, Texas – Unwanted kittens are safe after being rescued from freezing temperatures. According to the Austin Police Department, eight caged kittens were abandoned on a sidewalk in late January.
In a social media post on January 27, the authorities said:
Last night, we received a 9-1-1 call about kittens found in a cage on Great Northern Blvd. APD Sergeant Ben Mewis responded and found eight kittens freezing in a cage along a sidewalk with no shelter, food, or water. The Baker 300s (Central West Austin) responded and were able to transport them to Austin Animal Services where they were saved from the freezing weather.
Reminding the public that abandoning animals in the cold is never okay:
We want to remind the public that it is never ok to leave animals outside in freezing weather with no shelter, food, or water, especially babies.
The rescued kittens were taken to the Austin Animal Center for care.

Whoever does that to a poor helpless animal, part of their punishment should be the same as what they do to the animal.
The creep who is responsible deserves the same treatment as those innocent kittens.
These poor, innocent kittens were purposely left out there in the cold to die. That should be what is done to the perpetrator; unfortunately that is not possible. The individual responsible for this crime needs to be locked up for as long as possible to keep other animals from suffering at his hands.
People are selfish and lazy. Especially since covid. Disgusting.

Why can’t people take them to a shelter instead of dumping then in an horrible situation… like freezing to death. What a piece of garbage! I hope they find who did this and put them in jail or better yet stick them in a freezer for 24 hours and see how they do.
