Hamilton County, Tennessee – A social media video showing a boy repeatedly punching a dog in the face resulted in the juvenile’s arrest. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified about the video on the evening of September 18, and the boy was taken into custody the same night.
The youth, unnamed, was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and faces a charge of cruelty to animals. The dog remains with an adult family member at the home. Animal services is following up to determine the dog’s condition.
Sheriff Austin Garrett commented on the case, stating:
“We want to thank the public for bringing this disgusting video of a male juvenile brutally abusing a dog to our attention. Our deputies acted swiftly to this abuse, investigating and taking the suspect into custody. Animal cruelty has no place in Hamilton County. If you cannot treat animals with compassion, you do not deserve to have them.”

charge this bully as an adult and lock him up. He has no empathy. charge the parents who allow this behavior. But first and foremost, get that poor innocent dog out of that home now! He is likely enduring further abuse and needs a loving forever home.

This boy needs to be removed from our society. He has proven that he cannot live among others who can control their behavior and not commit these acts of violence. He needs to learn how to respect all living beings and treat them right.

When the person accused of cruelty to animals (human or not) is underage, the parents or adult custodians should also be questioned and investigated. Often times the youngster is just responding to his or her environment and all those involved should also be accountable. Cruelty to “animals” usually involves humans too.
