Gardena, CA – In early October, a young German shepherd named Elena was picked up at taken to the Carson Animal Services facility. The not quite two-year-old dog has a microchip identifying her owner, but that person never came to the shelter to retrieve her.
Now Elena is in danger – she has been at the shelter for two months and nobody has stepped up to rescue or adopt her.
Elena is described as a friendly dog who is fine with other dogs. A volunteer writes:
She rushed into the yard, bypassing the dogs waiting to interact with her. Elena made a straightaway towards the handlers in the yard, jumping on them for attention, licking their hands while receiving pettings. She began to wander the yard, appearing tolerant of the dogs around her, but uninterested in participating in play. As the other dogs chased and sprinted around the yard, Elena preferred a calmer as she kept to herself smelling the turf away from the dogs. She maintained a low energy level, but when interacting with the handlers, she perked her demeanor, pouncing and nudging for pettings.
Elena is essentially still a puppy – she should have her entire life ahead of her. Please share her adoption information and help her find a loving new owner.
