At 13 Years Of Age, Nicky’s Family Surrendered Her To Crowded Shelter

Van Nuys, CA – An elderly dog, 13 years of age, is sitting in a kennel at the East Valley Animal Services facility after being surrendered by her family. The senior dog, named Nicky, is one of hundreds of homeless dogs in the Los Angeles Animal Services system.

Considering the number of homeless dogs in need of rescue or adoption, Nicky’s fate is uncertain, especially given the fact that most adopters are not seeking out companions who are in the twilight of their life.

But Nicky is still very much alive and she deserves the chance to enjoy what remains of her life. She is undoubtedly scared and confused right now, but her life can begin anew with an adopter who will love and spoil her for the rest of her days.

You can help Nicky find her special person by networking her adoption information.

  2. This family is horrible to do this to a truly loving companion that is 13 years old. That is like giving away your grandmother. I hope they receive karma for this. Unacceptable to do such a thing to a family dog regardless if the situation. Human beings like this should be punished. Do better pet families. God sees you. 🙏❤️🐶

  3. If these heartless monsters are sick then lock them up and I hope NO ONE looks at those vermin. Let them rot where they are!

  4. Probably dumped the dog after finding out he or she needed medical care they couldn’t afford or refused to pay for. They might have also dumped the dog after getting a new puppy – that sadly does happen too. The shelter should not be taking in animals without charging a huge surrender fee to discourage people from discharging their pets like trash. The fee is usually cheap. That needs to change. The cost of feeding and caring for a animal is always more then what the surrender fee is. The shelter isn’t breaking even which is why they often put animals to sleep within days of getting them. Our shelters need to be highly funded so animals could stay longer in hopes of getting adopted. And running a no kill shelter is possible with the help of local rescues being involved and the banning of pet stores that sell dog and cats and the banning the breeding animals for pets. High kill shelters are simply death camps, that needs to end now!
