Port St. Lucie, Florida – On Friday, 66-year-old Kimberly K. Robinson was arrested on 29 counts of cruelty to animals following the discovery of dozens of cats at her Port St. Lucie home. It took animal control officers several days to remove a total of 124 cats from a residence in the 2500 block of Southwest Warwick Street in mid-October.
The rescued cats and kittens were taken in by the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, which provided an update on social media:
These animals arrived at our shelter in need of medical attention and nourishment. Most of the felines were infested with fleas and suffering from ear mites, and some had open sores requiring immediate treatment. We have moms and babies of all ages, with three females giving birth shortly after their rescue.
One of these mamas was too weak to care for her babies, so her kittens were rushed to an emergency foster home where they are receiving the round-the-clock care they need. ❤️
Our team is working hard to give every one of these cats the care and love they deserve, but we need our community now more than ever. 🙏
Since the original post, the shelter has medically cleared many of the cats for adoption.
As reported by WPTV News, the investigation is ongoing and Robinson could face additional charges.
