Santa Barbara, California – A young dog, just a year of age, died at a Santa Barbara dog daycare facility. The English Bulldog pup, Bruce, was at Camp Canine when he drowned last Thursday.
Details of the tragedy have been recounted on a fundraiser created for Bruce’s owners:
What was meant to be a normal day at Camp Canine turned into tragedy when their dog drowned while in the facility’s care. The pain was compounded by the way the situation was handled—they were not contacted when the incident occurred, and only learned of their dog’s passing later that day when they arrived to pick him up. To make matters even more difficult, they were given their dog’s body in a storage container in the trunk of a vehicle, and discovered he had not been transported to an emergency veterinary hospital before they were notified.
Camp Canine has temporarily suspended operations and released a statement on Instagram expressing their sorrow over what happened.
Vowing to ensure that a tragedy like this will never happen again.
It is unclear if there will be any charges stemming from this deadly incident.
