Long Island, New York – A New York based rescue group has rescued an abandoned duckling who was desperately seeking human love at a park. The duckling was captured on video walking up to people and trying to sit in their laps because he has been imprinted on humans and needs companionship.
This is one of the most heartbreaking and pathetic things we have ever seen. Someone hatched this duckling, let them imprint, and then brought him to a park and left. The duckling is literally chasing people and climbing into their laps because he desperately wants and needs human company.
The duckling was rescued from the park and will soon be paired with a human who will shower him with love and attention. On Tuesday, the rescue group said:
The Prospect Park duckling is safe with our extraordinary rescuer @mbpurdyartz and is just as sweet, cuddly, and needy as you could imagine. He will be joining another imprinted duckling of the same age this weekend in an indoor home with a human mom willing to give both birds all the human contact they need if they are absolutely convinced they are humans and not ducks. Both were cruelly raised as single duckling by humans and then abandoned outside.
