Devore, California – A dog picked up as a stray and taken to the San Bernardino County – Devore Shelter is out of time. The five-year-old husky mix, dubbed Lilo, was taken in on April 21. She was wearing a harness, indicating she has an owner, but nobody came to get her.
Now time has run out. An advocate writes:
This is a last ditch effort to save Lilo’s life.
I can’t stop thinking about her.
She came into the shelter still wearing her harness. She clearly belonged to someone at some point, but no one ever came for her. And now she’s sitting in kennel D 80, confused, overwhelmed, and completely out of time.
Every time I see her, she howls. She cries out like she’s searching for something she lost and doesn’t understand how to get back. It’s not behavior. It’s not “acting out.” It’s a dog who is scared, displaced, and still hoping someone is going to show up and make it make sense.
She is a 5 year old brown brindle husky mix, and she is absolutely terrified in the shelter environment. Loud noises, constant kennel stress, and the confusion of not understanding why she’s here have taken a toll on her. She doesn’t want to be in here. She just wants to feel safe again.
Video footage of Lilo in the shelter is heartbreaking. She is clearly overwhelmed and distraught. Lilo has been labeled “rescue only” and she is apparently on the euthanasia list for the afternoon of April 28.
Please share Lilo’s information – time is of the essence.
