Detroit, Michigan – Days ago, a dog was rescued from the freezing waters of the Detroit River. Michigan Humane shared dramatic video and photos of the rescue effort and yesterday, provided an update about the dog who was saved.

The animal welfare agency said the dog, dubbed Gordie, is older than originally believed. They think he is between seven and eight years of age. The agency said:
Gordie has been receiving ongoing medical and behavioral support at our Mackey Center for Animal Care. Following additional medical examinations, it was determined that he is older than originally estimated — most likely around 7 or 8 years old. Despite his exposure to the harsh winter elements, he is recovering well and continues to make steady progress under the care of our medical and behavior teams. His recovery journey is ongoing, and he remains in dedicated, compassionate hands every step of the way.
The organization thanked everyone for their words of support and promised to keep them up to date with any news about Gordie.
