Odessa, Texas – A Texas man has been arrested and is facing a charge of cruelty to animals for beating a small dog to death with his closed fist. According to the Odessa Police Department, on November 12, 26-year-old Jonathan Gonzalez repeatedly struck the dog with his fist, causing fatal injuries.
In a press release, the authorities said the violent incident was captured on a “graphic” video:
Upon arrival the officers contacted a witness to the incident, who provided officers with a video of the incident.
The video was graphic and horrible. It showed a male subject repeatedly striking a small dog on the ground. The dog was in a submissive posture on the concrete, and the male subject was striking it with a closed fist. Unfortunately, the dog died from the beating.
When officers confronted Gonzalez, he said he was “disciplining” his dog for making a mess in the house. The authorities confirmed that they saw no evidence of “reasonable discipline” in the video. The authorities said, “This video showed abject and unacceptable abuse of the animal.”
