San Bernardino, CA – When animal control facilities are full, shelter staff chooses the dogs who are least likely to be adopted as the ones that go on the dreaded “euthanasia list.” The dogs who are overwhelmed with fear and consumed with sadness are often deemed unadoptable.
A young Belgian Malinois mix at the City of San Bernardino Animal Control facility exhibits all the concerning signs that he is in danger. A single photo reveals his terror.
A shelter advocate writes, “This is what you don’t see when you don’t visit an animal shelter. They’re homesick, heartbroken, lonely and scared. This is what humans do to their pets and this behavior usually results in the animals being considered “unadoptable.”
This pup, Vash, did not ask to be stuck in this unfamiliar kennel run. He did not ask to be away from his home and people. And he certainly is not asking to lose his life.
