Lynchburg, VA – A 28-year-old man is facing a felony charge of animal cruelty after a dead dog was discovered in his backyard. According to the Lynchburg Police Department, Quentin Calhoun-Pope was taken into custody and booked into the Lynchburg Blue Ridge Regional Jail on October 11.
The authorities issued a press release about the incident, outlining the grim discovery:
On September 27, 2024, the Lynchburg Police Department’s Animal Control Unit responded to a call regarding a deceased dog found in a backyard in the 1500 Block of Bedford Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the animal and obtained a search warrant to conduct a thorough investigation of the property. Following the execution of the search warrant, the deceased dog was removed for examination.
The authorities said that the necropsy on the dog’s body revealed “critical evidence.”
