Seattle, WA – On Wednesday, the Seattle Police stated they have arrested a man suspected of murdering an 80-year-old dog walker during a carjacking. The victim, Ruth Dalton, of Grandma’s Critter Care, died after the 48-year-old man ran over her and dragged her with the car on Tuesday morning.
Police have just released the man’s name, identifying Jahmed Haynes as the person responsible for killing Dalton.
Later in the day, Dalton’s abandoned vehicle, a Subaru Forester, was found and one of the dogs who was in the vehicle at the time it was stolen was found dead nearby – according to reports, the dog, who belonged to Dalton, was stabbed to death and tossed near a recycling bin.
Police found the suspect after lifting a fingerprint from the abandoned Subaru. Haynes’ prints were on file for prior crimes, including vehicular homicide in 1993. When the police went to the man’s house, they found the Subaru keys and a bloodied knife.
Officials have said that Haynes is an eight-time convicted felon.
