Dallas, TX – A senior dog, described by a volunteer as a “very sweet boy,” and a “perfect dog,” is at risk of losing his life at a busy Texas animal shelter. The senior German shepherd mix, Mel, is being held at Dallas Animal Services and he is running out of time.
Mel’s adoption profile reads:
You know that dog you’ve always been dreaming about? The one who greets you happily at the door each day after work, who gives the best snuggles and gets you off the couch and out in the fresh air for walks? That might be me! Just maybe I’m the perfect dog for you. I hope you’ll give me a chance to prove it!
And the following information was shared from Mel’s shelter interaction:
SHELTER OBSERVATION
On 12/9/23
when walking past kennel dog was curled up on bed looking up at me, i attempted to entice him to approach me and he slowly extended out his neck to sniff me but remained on his bed. he allowed me to pet under his chin and on top of his head at which point he slowly rose from his bed to come closer to me. he remained still the entire time i sat and pet him, offering licks and head nudges when i pulled my hand away. very sweet sweet boy.
Mel must be out by Dec. 12 – he does not have time on his side. Please share this old boy’s information and help him find a safe and loving home to spend the rest of his days in. He did not ask to be here, and he does not want to die.
