Dutchess County, NY – A gorgeous cat is looking for a new home after she was nearly killed because she was not using a litterbox. According to the Dutchess County SPCA, the 13-year-old cat, Lulu, was brought to a veterinarian to be euthanized.
Lynne Meloccaro, the executive director of Dutchess County SPCA, explains:
“We received a call from a local veterinarian about a cat whose owners requested euthanasia because she was not using her litter box. When the animal was deemed healthy, the vet persuaded the owner to sign ownership of Lulu over to them, and then they asked us to take Lulu, which we immediately did.”
On April 11, the shelter posted Lulu’s photo to Facebook, writing:
Lulu is breathing easily again after she was brought in to be euthanized due to a “common” and easy-to-resolve litter box issue.
Lulu’s adoption profile reads:
A quiet home is what she seeks
Where she can rest and be at peace
A warm bed is all she needs
To curl up and drift off to sleep
So won’t you open your heart and home
To this lovely feline all alone?
Lulu is waiting for you to see
That she’s the perfect cat for your family.
Lulu has a propensity for urinary crystals so will need a prescription diet indefinitely.
