Kennewick, Washington – A woman was arrested after police found a staggering number of dead cats at her Kennewick apartment. According to sources, a total of 71 deceased cats, and seven living cats, including one in a bag on the apartment porch, were found at 69-year-old Susan Reavely’s residence.
As reported by Yahoo News, animal control responded to the Clearwater Bay Apartments after a resident found a kitten in a bag on an apartment patio. Additional dead cats in bags were observed prompting a call to the property manager.
According to NBC News, Reavely claimed she found the dead cats and was going to dispose of them. But the woman’s home showed evidence that it was a hoarding situation. Ben Zigan with Tri-Cities Animal Services said:
“There is stuff piled up inside, covering the floor including animal feces, garbage [and] debris. Just making it difficult to be in there with the smell and everything,”
Reavely is being held on investigation of first-degree animal cruelty, a Class C felony. Judge David Peterson set bail high because of Reavely’s apparent “complete disregard for life.”

This is why EVERY country, EVERY state needs to implement an Animal Abuser Registry. she may be convicted in the city that she lives in but there is nothing currently under the law that would prevent her from moving somewhere else and repeating those same behaviors unbeknownst to the new jurisdiction because there is no animal abuser registry that law enforcement, veterinarians, rescues, shelters, average people could access to see who is not supposed to be around animals. it is time, past time, for us to contact our Representatives and tell them we want an animal abuser registry established.
What this woman did is beyond horrific but she is mentally ill. The people that are torturing animals for money are the ones that are pure evil.

Maximum jail time for this disgusting woman. I do think hoarding animals is mental illness because they lose touch with reality. But let her get mental help in jail because if she is let out, she will just do it again.

No sympathy for this loser. She knew she was in over her head when the first cat died due to malnutrition, lack of care etc, yet she still adopted more cats. This woman is a compulsive hoarder of cats and unfortunately the poor animals suffered horrendously as a consequence. She should be fined, jailed and never allowed to ever have cats again under any circumstance.Why she was not reported long before she was caught in hard to understand .
