Manhattan, New York – A 14-year-old cat at the New York Animal Care and Control facility in Manhattan clings to the hope that someone visiting the shelter might look past her advanced age and see the love she has to offer. The cat, Mango, is eager to greet visitors. She longs for the tender touch of a human hand. She readily shares her beautiful purrs.
Albert Harris Photography writes about Mango’s life before the shelter:
For fourteen years, the rhythm of Mango Tango’s life was a gentle, familiar song. Her world was the quiet space around an old building, sustained by the kind hands of a good samaritan and the secret, shared love of neighbors who made sure she never knew hunger. She believed this was her forever.
Then, the world changed. The building was sold, and the familiar faces were filled with a new, chilling fear: what would happen to the cats when the new landlord arrived? The only way to keep her safe was through the most heartbreaking choice, to bring her to the shelter.
Adding a plea on the senior cat’s behalf – hoping against hope that someone out there might still see the value of her precious life:
Mango Tango doesn’t ask for much. Just a soft spot in a sunbeam, a gentle hand in her final years, and a place to call home where her purr of contentment is the only echo she needs. She is an amazing cat, and she deserves to live out her golden years in peace, not in a kennel.
You may not live in Manhattan. You might not have room in your home for a senior cat. But you do have the ability to share Mango’s story. Networking saves lives and facilitates adoptions. Someone out there DOES have room for this lovely senior cat. Someone does want to share their life with a loving soul who craves attention. Please help connect Mango with that someone by sharing her story.
