Colorado Springs, CO – K9 Roam, the 18-month-old Belgian Malinois severely injured in the line of duty last week, has left the veterinary hospital. The K9, who is with the Colorado Springs Police Department, was viciously stabbed by a suspect during a domestic violence call at a home on Gorgeted Quail Grove.

Roam had to undergo emergency surgery and one of his legs was amputated, but he was in good enough condition to be released from the veterinary hospital on Saturday. The community lined the streets to show their support and appreciation for the injured K9 as he left the veterinary hospital and made his way home to his handler.
Dr. Michelle Morgan, one of the surgeons who operated on Roam at Mountain View Veterinary Surgery, commented on the young dog’s amazing progress:
“He’s three days out from these extensive injuries, and he is, I mean, he amazes us every day. Incredible to see. As you know, we did have to amputate his leg to help save his life. And he is up walking. He’s wagging his tail. He’s he is just happy to be with his back, with his handler and his family.”
The suspect is identified as Anthony Bryant, 37. He is facing multiple charges, including Burglary, Obstruction,
Resisting arrest, Attempted felony, and Aggravated cruelty to law enforcement animals.
