Virginia Beach, Virginia – On Sunday afternoon, Ring cameras captured a delivery driver hurling a package at a family’s cat, who was resting on the front porch of their home. The footage shows the package striking the black cat, Opie. The driver appears to smirk after the package lands on the cat.
Opie’s owner tells 13 News Now, “He was asleep on the porch, wasn’t bothering a soul. You could have put it at the bottom of the steps. You didn’t have to throw it at him, laugh, and point at him.”
As the news crew was wrapping up their interview with the cat’s family, a man approached and said he was the driver. Using a translation app, the man said that he wanted to address what happened, telling the owner:
“If there is anything you want to say to me, or if there is a way we can solve this, that is why I am here today. To present myself in person.”
Opie’s family demanded the man’s name and both the police and animal control responded to the residence. The situation is under investigation and Opie’s owners are hopeful that charges will be filed.
