El Paso, Texas – On October 3, an unsecured German shepherd puppy tumbled from the bed of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup traveling northbound at the 400 block of S. Darrington Road. According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, deputies witnessed the incident and observed the puppy hitting the pavement and concrete sidewalk.
The puppy survived but sustained “visible injuries.” The police opened an investigation, arresting 64-year-old Victor Martinez for Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals. Martinez was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Detention Facility with a bond set at $6,000.
“Animals depend on us for their safety and protection, and that responsibility should never be taken lightly,” said Sheriff Oscar Ugarte. “They cannot speak for themselves or protect themselves from dangerous situations. When our deputies see an animal being put at risk, we will take action and hold those responsible accountable.”

stupid asshole. Why put dog in the back of open truck. He should ride in passenger seat
Praise God, but I fear that had the deputies not actually witnessed the event themselves, it never would have been followed up on. 😕
Dumb redneck sack of skin. Doesn’t deserve a dog. Too stupid.
What an idiot!! did he think his puppy was like a cat and he could just jump out?
That puppy should not be allowed to go back to that asshole!! he should also be responsible for the medical charges that poor puppy will need!!
What? Like a cat? Had a cat jumped, it would have been similarly injured! 🤷🏼♀️🙄
