Pend Oreille County, Washington – An investigation has been opened following the discovery of a black bear who was decapitated in Pend Oreille County. According to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife Police, the mutilated bear was dumped along Trimble Creek and Jewel Rd near Conger Lake.
In an August 7 social media post, the wildlife officials said:
The carcass was reported by a citizen around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday July 12th, 2026. The animal was dumped with only the head and paws removed from the animal. The carcass is believed to have been dumped sometime on or around Friday the 10th.
