Greenville, South Carolina – A handsome Dalmatian dubbed Domino is alive despite someone’s apparent efforts to end his life with a close-range gunshot to his shoulder. According to the Greenville Humane Society, Domino was found wandering alone in Spartanburg County before being brought to the shelter facility.
The organization’s shelter staff says the wound to the young dog’s should one of the most horrific they have ever seen.

The shelter writes:
The blast left behind a wound nearly six inches deep and roughly the width of a baseball. It was so severe that our doctors could feel his ribs through the opening. X-rays later revealed countless fragments of buckshot still embedded throughout his shoulder. It is almost impossible to comprehend how he survived.
Adding:
When he arrived, his wound had become infested with maggots. Infection had already begun to set in, and every step he took had to be excruciating. But despite everything he’d endured, Domino never stopped trying to be a good dog.
Nobody knows who hurt Domino, but now he is safe and receiving the care he needs to recovery and thrive.
The organization said:
We may never know exactly what happened to Domino. But we do know what happens next. 💚
He gets to rest somewhere safe. He gets medical care. He gets people in his corner. And he gets a chance to heal.
