Warren, Michigan – A pet sitter in Warren is being charged for allegedly abusing a dog named Frankie. According to Fox 2 Detroit, 28-year-old Samantha Koss has been charged with animal cruelty for the May 10 incident which was captured on video.
A witness captured Koss allegedly hitting and kicking the pit bull, who she was watching for Bobbie Brody, who had hired Koss through Rover.com. Koss had watched the dog multiple times previously.
Brody tells the news agency, “It was devastating, it was absolutely devastating that somebody we entrusted to take care of him, was actually abusing him in such a vile manner. It was heartbreaking.”
On the day of the incident, Frankie had apparently escaped from the home and Koss hit and kicked him while attempting to get him secured and back in the house. Koss’ behavior resulted in misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. She was granted a $5,000 personal bond and ordered not to have contact with animals.
Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said, “Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Macomb County. The alleged conduct in this case is disturbing, and my office is committed to holding offenders accountable when animals are abused or neglected. We will aggressively prosecute acts of cruelty and continue working to protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
