Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania – A 29-year-old Pennsylvania man is facing multiple animal-cruelty related charges resulting from him “punting” a small, emaciated dog in the parking lot of an Econo-lodge Motel. According to the authorities, Bijay Poudel was observed “drop-kicking” a small, white dog at the motel in Mechanicsburg on March 5.
An officer with the Saint Francis Humane Society Police Department responded to an animal cruelty call at the motel located in the 600 block of Gettysburg Road in Upper Allen Township. The eyewitness told the officer that a man threw and “football kicked” the small dog and the dog limped away and collapsed in the rainy parking lot.
The dog’s owner, Poudel, admitted to the police officer that he “punted” the dog into a door because it was playing in the rain. Poudel allegedly exhibited how he kicked the little dog to the officer investigating the incident.

The injured dog was retrieved and taken to an emergency veterinarian where it was determined to be “dangerously underweight,” and suffering from multiple injuries and signs of neglect including broken blood vessels in its eyes and bloody stools, which were likely caused by “head or neck trauma,” dirty, matted fur, and overgrown nails.
Poudel was arrested and is facing charges, including cruelty to animals, neglect of animals- veterinary care, and neglect of animals- shelter protection. A preliminary hearing is scheduled on April 30 at 2:15 p.m.
