Altoona, Pennsylvania – A teen is facing charges for allegedly trying to break a dog’s neck by hitting her in the head with a metal bat. The 17-year-old teen, unnamed because of his age, allegedly continued his efforts to kill the three-year-old pitbull, Bailey, by trying to strangle her, hit her with a pickaxe, and smashing her head into the concrete.
Against all odds, Bailey survived, but her skull was fractured and she weighed just 25 pounds when the Central PA Humane Society took her in. According to the animal welfare agency, someone reported the cruelty to the police, saving Bailey’s life. Another dog in the home, reported to be Bailey’s sibling, did not survive and was found deceased in a box.
On March 23, the shelter posted to Facebook, letting followers know that Bailey was on the mend now that she is safe:

Come on guys – someone knows who this evil SOB is and where he lives. Someone knows that names of his parents! I just don’t understand why minors don’t have their names published – they’re the ones that good, moral people need to be on the watch for. If minors will do this to innocent dogs then everyone needs to know their name!!! You wanta be a big man, then tell us what your name is and where we can find you! Effing coward! I’ve got a Louisville Slugger with your name on it!
Where were the parents during all of this? They are also responsible, for allowing him to brutalize both dogs and kill one of them. They and their disgusting spawn all need to have their worthless asses thrown in jail for good, since they can’t get the punishment that they truly deserve. Which would be to stop them from wasting anymore oxygen immediately.
The teenage piece of garbage deserves to be hit around with a bat so that he knows what it feels like. The legal system will be far too kind. There’s no place on this planet for a monster like this. It will only get worse. I’m confident that many would line up for an opportunity at street justice. Bless those innocent pups. Hopefully Bailey has much brighter days ahead. It’s amazing animals can trust again after being subjected to that.

If the kid was old enough to commit those heinous acts against a defenseless animal, he’s old enough to be named & shamed!

Ok so why is only the teenager charged in this heinous crime against 2 known dogs? Where does parental responsibility begin? Was this teenager living alone? without a parent or guardian? Where was that oblivious pos? IMHO Both the adult or adults should be charged for the neglect and starvation and teenager for the unspeakable acts of cruelty. I keep coming back to the same question, why? Just give the dog to a shelter or a friend.
