Johnson County, Texas – A Texas man was arrested after deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office found dogs stashed in a storage unit at Mouser Self-Storage. According to the authorities, the dogs were in the storage unit, which is not climate controlled.
In a news release, the authorities identified Gustavo Ramos as the owner of the dogs. The agency said:
Deputies reviewed video playback provided by the facility. According to the Deputy’s observations, on February 13, 2026, at approximately 1300 hours, Mr. Ramos was observed entering the storage facility and placing three (3) dogs inside Unit #2108S. At approximately 1317 hours, Ramos was seen leaving the facility with the dogs remaining inside the locked unit.
Additional video footage revealed that Ramos went back to the facility on February 15, removed the dogs from the unit, and then returned a short time later to put the dogs back in the storage unit. Deputy Kirby advised that based on the duration of time Ramos spent inside the unit during these visits, he believes the dogs were being kept in kennels.
Ramos is facing three counts of Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals. The dogs were taken to the Humane Society of North Texas; they will be held until the hearing has wrapped up.
