Henry County, Virginia – On January 30, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence at 46 Holloway Drive, Bassett, involving an animal cruelty investigation. According to the authorities, 52-year-old Edwin Green Turner admitted to shooting a poodle named Bella; the shooting left Bella blind.

After being interviewed, and confessing, Turner was placed under arrest and charged with:
Bella had been let out briefly by her owner before being found with multiple injuries consistent with being shot with birdshot. During the search of Turner’s home, police found “several items of evidentiary value, including a 12-gauge shotgun and three fired shotgun shells believed to be connected to the incident.”
Sheriff Wayne Davis stated:
“Our investigators have worked diligently and methodically to bring this case forward. Acts of cruelty toward animals are taken seriously in Henry County, and we will continue to hold individuals accountable when evidence supports criminal charges.
