Belton, Missouri – A Missouri man has been arrested for abusing a dog who was seen being thrown to the frozen ground. The Belton Missouri Police Department said they responded to “multiple calls” on January 26 from people who saw 29-year-old Caleb Frey abusing a dog in the area of MO 58 Highway and N. Mullen Road.
In a release, the authorities said:
Upon arrival, an officer observed the dog attempting to pull away while the man repeatedly yanked the leash, then picked the dog up and threw the dog to the ground. The dog remained lying in the snow and appeared unable to move.
Frey was arrested and charged with animal abuse.
The abused dog was taken into protective custody and evaluated. The police said, “Due to extremely cold temperatures at the time of the incident, officers were concerned about possible injuries.”
Adding, “The animal is currently doing much better and is receiving quality care while the criminal case proceeds.”
Frey is scheduled to appear in court, and the case has been forwarded to the City Prosecutor for review.
