Kerrville, Texas – In July, devastating floods ravaged the Kerr County community and in the midst of the disaster, a cat named Hazel vanished. Against all odds, after months passed, Hazel has been found.
Last week, Kerrville Pets Alive shared the amazing news with Facebook followers, explaining how Hazel was recovered:
A Kerr County resident set a humane trap, and Hazel was safely captured. Sadly, her collar had become wedged under her arm and, over time, embedded into her skin, causing a severe wound. Despite everything she endured, Hazel survived—and yesterday we were able to fund her emergency medical care.
Hazel proved herself to be a mighty survivor, despite a deeply embedded collar that was stuck under her front leg.

The rescue group was able to find Hazel’s owner because of information on her microchip. The agency said:
Hazel was microchipped, allowing animal control to contact her family. We’ve also offered to provide a new ID tag and a breakaway collar designed to release if a pet gets caught on something in the future.
We’re incredibly grateful to Kerr County Animal Control and Kerrville Vet Clinic for their help in Hazel’s rescue and recovery.
Merry Christmas Hazel!
