Detroit, Michigan – Tis the season for extreme elements to take a toll on neglected pets. In the summer, the heat kills dogs who are not provided with shelter and in the winter, dogs who are left without shelter freeze to death.
One dog was found frozen to death in a Detroit yard on Thursday. According to a public social media post, a neighbor had observed this dog suffering outdoors without food, water, or shelter. The individual reached out for help after the dog succumbed to the elements.
It is hard to imagine how much suffering this helpless dog endured in the freezing temperature before finally passing away. Detroit Animal Care and Control is investigating the heartbreaking incident. The agency commented:
“As expected for this time of year, we are getting an influx of calls regarding dogs left out in the cold and responding to those calls is prioritized. We take animal cruelty and neglect seriously and a DACC investigator has been assigned to this case. We encourage residents to call immediately when they suspect neglect.”
Adding a social media reminder to dog owners:
Can’t handle spending all day and night outside in the frigid temperatures? Neither can your dog. All of these photos were taken yesterday by members of our team. Bring your pets inside.
📲If you see a dog outside for extended hours at a time, please call 313-922-DOGS (3647).

May that dear angel rest in peace forever free from “humanity’s” stupidity and cruelty.
