York Haven, PA – A York Haven man is facing animal cruelty charges after choking his sister’s cat to death. The man, 20-year-old Bryce Leon David Welty, told the authorities that he got a feeling of “intense malicious rage” before entering his sister’s room to torture and kill her cat.
As reported by the York Dispatch, Welty said he would choke the cat to the point of slowing her heart, and then he went “too far,” suffocating the cat to death.
After killing the cat, Welty placed the body in a trash bag with a pillow and then left the bag in the basement of the home. Police who responded to the residence found the deceased cat, in the bag, in the basement where Welty left it.
Welty is facing a slew of charges including two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty and a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals. Welty was booked into the York County Prison on October 8; bail was set at $5,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled on October 22.
