Portland, OR – An Oregon veterinarian recently shared an amazing rescue story about a cat named Misty who was facing a death sentence after ingesting a piece of string that had entangled her intestines and was causing extreme pain. According to Dr. Jessica Thompson, the cat’s owners left town for over a month, leaving their house as a rental with Airbnb.
The owners asked the Airbnb guests to care for the cat who had been left behind. Dr. Thompson said that the cat began showing signs of distress and guests noticed. She explains:
Well, while they were gone, one of the Airbnb guests saw that she was extremely sick and took her to the vet clinic. She had a string stuck under her tongue, and it was bunching up her intestines and causing her a lot of pain and trauma to her body.
Adding:
Instead of opting for any treatment or work up, the owner said to euthanize her.
Misty was in luck. A veterinary assistant found a rescue organization to take her under their wing, and she was transferred to Dr. Thompson’s clinic where surgery was performed at a “very discounted price” to save her life.
Misty no longer has to worry about being abandoned because she will be adopted to a new family. Dr. Thompson said, “She will now find a great loving forever home that will not ever abandon her and discount her life by euthanasia again.”
