Philadelphia – Recently, a skeletal puppy was found as a “stray” in Philadelphia. The malnourished puppy, dubbed Garcia, was so emaciated and weak that he could not stand. Outcast Rescue says:
This sweet 5-month-old puppy was found as a stray in Philadelphia in absolutely horrific condition. Emaciated, unable to stand, and so weak you can see every bone in his body — Garcia has already endured more than any puppy ever should.
It is unlikely a stray puppy fell to this level of emaciation – rather, it appears that someone purposefully starved him. Desperately in need of round-the-clock care, Garcia was transferred to the care of Crown Veterinary Specialists on September 17; there he received a blood transfusion and intensive care to help bring him back from the brink of death.

On Thursday, the rescue agency shared promising news with worried Facebook followers, writing:
We have some good news! Garcia has left the hospital! We were all comfortable after he spent over a week in the hospital sending him to an experienced foster home that is close to them should he need to go back. This little guy is so determined and he had no problem telling us all about it. He even stood and did his business when we arrived at his fosters house. He quickly curled up as soon as he got there and went to sleep. Exciting adventure and also exhausting for him at the same time. So now he rests, saves his calories and continues to move forward.
