Pulaski County, KY – A 22-year-old Kentucky man is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after he bit off a cat’s ears and threw her against a wall during a domestic dispute. Zachary Rollins of Russell Springs was arrested last weekend and charged with torture of a dog or cat for the incident which left a cat named Bunny with severe injuries.

According to the Hope for All Pets rescue group, who took the abused cat in, Bunny arrived with two broken legs and her ears had been chewed off; she was allegedly thrown against a wall by Rollins as well. In a May 12 social media post, the organization wrote:
Her name was previously Stephanie, but our vet has lovingly renamed her Bunny. Bunny had surgery today to repair her ears and remove the damaged and infected ear tissue. Tomorrow, she will have surgery to place screws in her elbow by a specialist. The other leg will be splinted.

On Friday, the rescue agency shared a heartwarming update with Facebook followers who have been concerned about Bunny’s recovery:
We’ve been asked more times than we could keep up with on Bunny’s future once she is discharged from the hospital in a few weeks. Many expressed concerns of her return to her prior home, and many offered to open their doors to her…
We are happy to let everyone who is keeping up with her journey that she met her new mom today. 🥰
