Over 730 Sunrises – Cat Has Waited Over Two Years To Be Chosen

Cumming, GA – For more than half her life, a cat named Graciela has waited for someone to choose her. The four-year-old cat, with Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters, has been homeless for more than 730 sunrises.

Albert Harris, a photographer who advocates for homeless pets, poignantly shares Graciela’s story, writing:

While the world moved on, she stayed. While other cats found homes, she remained.
Day after day, she watches. New faces pass by her room where is staying, pausing, considering, then walking away. She sees the hands that reach for others but never for her. She hears the excited chatter of families taking home their new companions… while she curls up alone, still hoping. Still waiting.

Explaining how this quiet, reserved cat needs one person who will take a chance on her and allow her to love and be loved.

Graciela isn’t the kind of cat who demands cuddles or climbs into laps uninvited. She’s quiet, independent, a dignified little lady who loves on her own terms. But offer her a Churu (her weakness!), speak to her softly, and you’ll see it, the slow blink of trust, the way she leans in just a little closer. She wants to believe. She wants to love. She just needs someone patient enough to let her do it in her own time.
She dreams of sunny windowsills where she can chirp at birds (harmlessly, of course!). She longs for a quiet home where she can be the only queen of her domain, no competing cats, just her space, her rules. The shelter says she tolerates other felines, but her heart truly shines when she’s the center of attention.

Graciela needs more people to see her story – to know that she exists. And she needs ONE person who will take a chance on her and give her the love and support she needs to trust and thrive.
