Sperry, OK – An Oklahoma man was arrested and is facing cruelty charges after three puppies froze to death in his yard when the outside temperature dipped to just 4 degrees. According to sources, a neighbor called the police after finding three dead puppies in 74-year-old Troy Pierce’s yard.
The neighbor took the mother dog and surviving puppies to his house to warm them up before calling the authorities for help.
Responding officers questioned Pierce about the dog and puppies and he admitted that the last time he had checked on them was the day before – the puppies had already died and he left the mother dog and the surviving puppies outside anyway. The police said the dogs had no hay or blankets and their food and water were frozen solid.
Casey Roebuck with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office tells News on 6:
“There was no hay, there was no blankets, no warming elements, there was no water that wasn’t frozen. There was dog food, it was frozen solid. All of these conditions are not legal. If you are a pet owner, you have to provide adequate shelter, food, and freshwater,”
The surviving dogs were taken in by the Tulsa County Animal Control; Pierce was arrested on three counts of felony animal cruelty. He quickly bonded out.
