Renton, WA – On New Year’s Eve, a coyote attacked a five-year-old child in the Maplewood Heights neighborhood of Renton. The boy was bitten and pulled to the ground and the coyote attempted to drag him into a nearby greenbelt but stopped when the child’s mother rushed towards them.
According to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, the boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment; he was released the same evening.
Wildlife officers responded to the area with the intent to kill the coyote, but the animal escaped into a wooded area.
