Belvidere, IL – Two people have been charged with animal cruelty for abandoning dozens of dogs at the Hammertime Unleashed Dog Park in Belvidere in mid-July. As reported by WGNTV, Concepcion Rodriguez, 61, and Bruce Walla, 54, have been identified as the people who abandoned 54 Maltese mixes at the park.
The arrests were made after the Boone County Sheriff’s Office partnered with other agencies in an extensive investigation. A search warrant was obtained for Rodriguez’s and Walla’s residence on Wheatlands Way in Huntley. Officials found 19 additional dogs in poor health at the home.
The pair were booked into jail and then released.
